What is Otodama?
Otodama is a party game app for iOS and a word game for groups of two or more. Play together in the same place on one phone. Reveal a category and say a word starting with the given letter: for example, “Bear” for “Animal starting with B”. Rush is free; Unlimited adds Duel, Paper and optional Spicy categories.
How many people can play?
Rush and Duel work with two or more players. In Rush, everyone takes turns; in Duel, two people from your group face off at a time. One phone is enough for the whole group. Otodama is designed for game nights together in person, without online matchmaking.
How does Rush work and how do you score?
Rush is the free word game against the clock. Everyone gets one turn per round, using the same starting letter with changing categories. The five rounds give each player 21, 17, 13, 9 and finally 5 seconds. A matching answer earns one point; no answer costs one point. You confirm the result in the app.
How does Duel work?
Two players face off with the same category and starting letter. The first to say a matching word earns a win. There is no timer or fixed round limit. In larger groups, the app rotates pairings; compare your win rates when you finish. Duel is included in Unlimited.
Is Otodama free?
Yes. Rush mode is free. The optional Otodama Unlimited subscription unlocks Duel, Paper and Spicy. Monthly and annual plans are available.
Is Otodama available for iOS and Android?
Otodama is available for iOS on the App Store. The Android version is coming soon.
Can I play offline?
Yes, Otodama game rounds work offline on one phone. Downloading the app, purchases, restoring purchases and loading subscription information require an internet connection.
Can we play a pen-and-paper categories game?
Yes. Paper mode, included in Unlimited, gives you eight random categories for your pen-and-paper round. Copy them into columns on your sheets, choose a starting letter yourselves and find matching words. Compare answers and award points using your own rules. Only this mode needs pens and paper.
Is Spicy suitable for everyone?
Spicy optionally mixes bolder categories for adults into your game. It is included in Unlimited and is not a separate game mode. Leave Spicy switched off if you would rather play without these categories.
How do I cancel Unlimited or restore purchases?
Manage your subscription under Subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Use Restore purchases in the app with the same Apple Account to restore an existing purchase.
